Qais A. Farjo, M.D.

Qais A. Farjo, M.D., of Ann Arbor, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Ann Arbor after courageously battling cancer for four years. He was 43 years old. 

Born in 1970 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Anastas and Muna Farjo. On April 24, 1999 he married Rand S. Abdulnour in Ann Arbor, MI at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. He graduated from St. Thomas the Apostle School and Fr. Gabriel Richard High School in Ann Arbor. As a member of the Inteflex program, Qais received his Bachelors of Science (1992) and Medical Degree (1995) from The University of Michigan. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology and fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at the University of Michigan’s W. K. Kellogg Eye Center. He was a Medical Director of the Michigan Eye Bank and was committed to advanced vision restoration techniques with corneal transplantation. Qais was a devout Catholic, proud parent, and avid Wolverine fan who enjoyed spending free time with his three children and wife. He was a passionate scientist and physician who cared deeply for his patients and would go to extraordinary lengths to help anyone in need. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, colleagues and patients.

Qais is survived by his wife, Rand Abdulnour-Farjo and their three children, Reem, Rafid and Deena, of Ann Arbor; three brothers, Laith (Juliana), Ayad (Karin) of Ann Arbor and Rafal (Krysten) of Oklahoma City, OK; his parents Anastas and Muna of Ann Arbor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
