
Dr. Karin Sletten is Board-Certified in Ophthalmology and has a Fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Diseases and Surgery. Dr. Sletten is available for consultations, referrals and second opinions. Her medical and surgical expertise includes: Macular degeneration, Diabetic retinopathy, Macular puckers (epiretinal membranes), Vitreous detachments, and more.
Dr. Sletten received an engineering degree at Case Western Reserve University and completed her medical training at the University of Michigan. She was awarded the LaBerge prize for best research by a resident. She completed her two-year fellowship training in Vitreo-Retinal Diseases and Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
In 2003, Dr. Sletten entered into private practice as a member of Davis Duehr Dean, a large ophthalmic practice in Madison, Wisconsin and served as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a member of the volunteer faculty. She has given numerous presentations and educational seminars and has a research interest in Macular degeneration.
Dr. Sletten is a member of numerous national, state and local professional societies including the Michigan State Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Women In Ophthalmology, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. She was voted as a "Top Doc" in 2007 by her peers and patients in Hour Detroit Magazine.
Dr. Sletten and her husband, Ayad, have two sons. In her free time, Dr. Sletten is an avid reader of mystery novels and enjoys traveling.
